Basic Info
Corten Steel is a type of structural steel with excellent weather resistance properties. Its main components include iron (Fe), carbon (C), silicon (Si), manganese (Mn), and small amounts of chromium (Cr), copper (Cu), nickel (Ni), phosphorus (P), and sulfur (S). The most significant characteristic of Corten Steel is its ability to resist corrosion in atmospheric environments, especially its outstanding resistance to atmospheric corrosion, allowing it to be exposed to natural environments for long periods without losing its original performance.
The weather resistance of Corten Steel mainly comes from its special chemical composition and microstructure, which contain certain proportions of alloying elements such as copper and chromium. When Corten Steel is exposed to the atmosphere, a dense layer of rust forms on its surface, which effectively prevents further corrosion. Additionally, this rust layer has self-healing capabilities, allowing the steel to maintain its excellent weather resistance even when exposed to harsh environments for extended periods.
