On September 20, 2024, Shanxi Taigang Steel successfully applied for a patent for a novel method titled “Method for Rolling and Heat Treatment of Cr13 Ferritic/Martensitic Dual-Phase Stainless Steel,” with the application number CN118668043A, filed on July 17, 2024.
This invention pertains to the metallurgy and stainless steel production sectors. Cr13 stainless steel is known for its excellent corrosion resistance and oxidation properties, offering high strength, good machinability, and weldability. Due to its low alloying content, it presents significant economic advantages and is widely utilized in various applications, including architectural panels, rail transportation, and home appliances.
However, the low chromium content in Cr13 stainless steel results in a complex phase transformation process during production, making it challenging to maintain stable performance. The patented method addresses this issue by controlling the steel composition, adjusting hot rolling and coiling processes, incorporating a slow cooling step before annealing, and optimizing the annealing process in a bell furnace. These measures enable the regulation of the ferritic/martensitic dual-phase structure in Cr13 stainless steel, ultimately enhancing the performance of heat-treated steel plates.
This innovative approach is expected to advance the production efficiency and performance consistency of Cr13 stainless steel, reinforcing its application in various industries.
