Regional Crude Steel Production
In February 2024, Africa’s crude steel production was 18 million tons, up by 8.1% compared to the previous year.
Asia and Oceania’s crude steel production was 1.097 billion tons, reflecting a 3.9% increase year-on-year.
The European Union (27 countries) produced 106 million tons of crude steel, a decrease of 3.3% from the previous year.
Other European countries produced 37 million tons of crude steel, showing a significant increase of 32.5% compared to the previous year.
The Middle East produced 42 million tons of crude steel, up by 10.8% year-on-year.
North America’s crude steel production was 87 million tons, down by 1.3% from the previous year.
Russia, other CIS countries, and Ukraine collectively produced 67 million tons of crude steel, a decrease of 2.5% from the previous year.
South America’s crude steel production was 35 million tons, showing a notable increase of 10.5% compared to the previous year.

China’s estimated crude steel production in February 2024 was 811.8 million tons, up by 3.5% year-on-year.
India produced 118 million tons of crude steel, showing a significant increase of 11.4% compared to the previous year.
Japan’s crude steel production was 70 million tons, up by 1.1% year-on-year.
The United States produced 65 million tons of crude steel, a decrease of 1.2% from the previous year.
Russia’s estimated crude steel production was 57 million tons, down by 4.4% year-on-year.
South Korea produced 51 million tons of crude steel, a decrease of 1.5% from the previous year.
Turkey’s crude steel production was 31 million tons, showing a substantial increase of 46.6% compared to the previous year.
Germany produced 31 million tons of crude steel, up by 4.4% year-on-year.
Brazil’s crude steel production was 28 million tons, showing a notable increase of 13.1% compared to the previous year.
Iran produced 22 million tons of crude steel, reflecting a significant increase of 14.3% compared to the previous year.
